Climate Change Adaptation Drop-in: Langport
On February 29th Langport will host a public event for Adapting the Levels.
Please drop in anytime 10 am – 2 pm to share your ideas and concerns or simply learn more about how climate change is already affecting our local area, and what could happen in the future
Somerset is on the UK’s frontline of climate change, with the County’s long coast and large areas of low-lying land facing increased risks from river flooding, drought and sea-level rise. Adapting the Levels is working with communities, farmers and landowners, businesses, local government and water management experts to develop a shared vision for climate adaptation on the Somerset Levels.
The event will include:
Information about climate projections and what this could mean for local people
How managing water more naturally could help protect the area
Fun interactive models to explore
A variety of ways for people to share their knowledge, ideas and experiences, all of which will go towards developing the shared vision
Information on the funding Adapting the Levels can provide for developing nature-based solutions to flooding and drought
There will be free hot soup, cakes, tea and coffee and plenty of space to chat. Children are very welcome.
